So MUCH!!!

hey guys!

So I have been incredibly busy lately.  A lot has to do with a big change coming up that I can't talk about just yet.  In fact, I am working on a post for it soon.

I told you recently on twitter, facebook, and instagram that I would be doing a Q & A session.  These are just a few of the questions I have received.

01.  Where is your hubby?

Working, working, working.  He won't be as involved with the blog this time around.

02.  Are you ever going to do a vlog?

Maybe one day.  I would like to eventually only vlog but I hate my voice. seriously.

03.  Why did you take a break from blogging?

I got to the point in my life where I was doing the blog as a chore.  I would moan and groan when I realized I HAD to post because I hadn't written anything in a month.  I am trying a different approach this time.

04.  How is the weight loss going?

It's not.  I barely have time to take a shower and most meals are on the go now but school is almost over so that frees up some of my time and hopefully I can get back on track.

05.  How come you aren't posting any crafts?

I really really want to but most of my craft supplies are in storage and haven't had the time to go through all of it yet.  Eventually. I swear.

06.  Are you still going to school?  If so, what is your major?

I am currently taking a break from school.  I had HORRIBLE trouble with switching to online schooling.  As for my major I am doing just a basic course study right now because I can't decide between elementary education or business.  My husband says do both but I am hoping that I can start back for winter semester.

07.  Do you still do photography?

No and to be honest I have the hardest time with this right now.  I do plan on getting back into it but my camera lens shattered and I haven't had time to replace it yet.  I am actually looking to upgrade my camera completely and I have been researching to find the best one.

08.  What happened to your puppies?

I am not sure which one or ones you are referring to.  Scarlet passed away about a year ago from old age, Chloe was given to a family friend before we moved this last time, and Gizmo is actually my brother's dog and he still has him. I can't wait to get another family dog for us.

09.  Where is your favorite place to shop?  What would you label your style?

In general Target is my favorite place to shop.  I do love mall shopping because you get so many stores in one place.  Maurice's is also a favorite place of mine.  Style?  I have none. lol

Thank you guys so much for asking so many questions.  I do have more to answer but will save them for another post.

Like I said, things are crazy right now and I am sorry I haven't been updating as much.  I plan to really get back into it soon.

Book Review: Fallen | warning: so many many...

"What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours?

17-year-old Lucinda falls in love with a gorgeous, intelligent boy, Daniel, at her new school, the grim, foreboding Sword & Cross . . . only to find out that Daniel is a fallen angel, and that they have spent lifetimes finding and losing one another as good & evil forces plot to keep them apart.

Get ready to fall . . "

My brother has been trying to get me to read Fallen by Lauren Kate for about a year now.  And in that year I have tried to read this book about, no lie, ten times.  I couldn't get past the first chapter.    With the lengthy and horrible description of the insane asylum on the outside/dorm room on the inside (how can they sneak around so much with the reds watching?!) to the annoyances of Arianne I couldn't make it.  And guys I have read some horrible books.

Then my brother said "You should really read Fallen.  They are making the series into a movie."

And on the inside I was:
I LOVE LOVE LOVE when books get made into movies.  It's one of the best feelings in the world.
So I pushed through.  It took me forever to read it but I did

I am not a huge fan of paranormal so that has some factor on my opinion but let's go ahead and point out Twilight was published in 2005 and Fallen in 2009.  They both have an aggravating heroine who is in the center of a love triangle. Should she be with the one who she has an instant attraction to or the brooding side piece of convenience?  More similarities but most books that are in the same genre kinda are. I won't fall into the great Twilight vs. Fallen debate.

Lucinda "Luce" Price is whiny and passive.  Daniel Grigori is a douche.  I don't see what characteristics these characters posses that makes them desirable, understandable, or relate-able.  Soooo why are they the main characters?!?!

Cameron "Cam" Briel and Pennywether "Penn" Van Syckle-Lockwood (seriously?!) are by far the best things about this book.  Can't they be together?  Oh, no.  They can't.

Also, I know this is a legion of fallen angels bbbuuutttt there are so many characters that really serve no purpose in this book.  They will probably in future books so Lauren Kate introduced us to them but she could have done it in a way that flowed better.

Now let's talk about the movie for just a minute.  First, no trailer has been released, no photos have been released except one, and no official release date.  Lauren Kate wants it to be released in Fall of 2015 with the trailer to be released at Comic Con in July.  So let's say from July to September/October is all that Fallen will be advertised - 3 maybe 4 months.  Now let's also say that maybe 2 out of 10 people have read the book and with that only half seem to like it.  Not good.  Also, factor in that the cast is composed of some lesser known but up and coming actors ( I think I know of two possibly three).  What are you doing Lauren Kate?!?

I think this could have been really good - I love the idea of fallen angels damned to walk the earth in a constant state of heartbreak but its so poorly executed:

So overall:

I'll probably watch the the matinee on a Wednesday where it's half priced tickets..or wait for Redbox...or Netflix but I'm not expecting much.

I want to give this book only two seriously?!? faces but I was very generous and went with 2.5.  If you can get past the chapter long details of a "lunatic" friendship, insane asylum school, and "I have this magnetic pull to the schools jerk off", then the book slowly picks up - a little.  You will fall in love with one maybe two characters and think this could have went a different way.

keep up with what I am reading on my Goodreads

Why Mother's Day is hard for me

Don't get me wrong, I do love Mother's Day.

All the homemade gifts.

Being able to sleep in until 7.  Ok so maybe I would have like to sleep in until 8 but at least it wasn't 6.

I do get sad when my husband is away at work but just because I want to see him and spend the day with him.  I don't need presents for Mother's Day.  I am blessed with the gift of my child and seriously that is enough for me.

So what makes Mother's Day so hard for me?

Growing up I had no real relationship with my mom.  She had both my brother and me when she was young and married my dad.  They didn't work out and for awhile there we were seeing her every other weekend but eventually that stopped all together.

Growing up, my grandmother and my nanny would step in to the mother roles but it was still hard.  She wasn't there for the important parts of my life and for many years I assumed I wasn't worthy of her love.

Did you ever hear the Kellie Pickler song "I Wonder"?  I think it describes perfectly what I was feeling.

I was definitely an angry teenager not understanding why my mother would essentially just give us up.  I held a lot of angry inside and several times I would lash out at my husband - then fiance.  I would see girls with their mothers and have this awesome relationship and I couldn't fathom why I couldn't have that.

But Justin worked with me and I was eventually able to let most of it go.  Everything happens for a reason and I am who I am because of it.  I still get sad especially at holidays like Mother's Day.  I wish I would have had a relationship with my mom but I don't take for granted the ladies in my life who have stepped up.

My mother and I have a somewhat relationship now.  We have talked and hashed things through.  I still haven't seen her since I was about 8 years old but have talked about maybe meeting up this summer.

But I don't let this get me down. I have a wonderful son and amazing husband.  and intend to enjoy my day to the fullest.

Unboxing V.3 : Graze box | Code for FREE Graze Box

What's my biggest problem with trying to eat healthy?

I usually stick to the same old healthy snacks, we get tired of them, and make a run to Sonic for ice cream.

Also, I rather graze (see what I did there? eh?) all day.
I had heard great things about the Graze box and gave it a try.

Graze is a company started in the UK but recently branched out into the United States.  Each box is $6.99 and the contents of the box are determined by what you like through a rating system of the snacks.  Boxes are delivered either once a week or can be bi-monthly.

I know a lot of people are weary about trying boxed goodies but I do not think you will be disappointed with Graze.  You can cancel your subscription at any time.

On to the goodies:

I love love love the packaging!

Garden of England.
I liked everything about this one except the soft apple pieces.  I have a thing about textures.

Chocolate Pecan Pie.
I wasn't sure about the dates with the pecans but it was really good.  The fudge was really good too.

Fruity Mango Chutney with Black Pepper Dippers.
JJ didn't like this one but I did.  The black pepper dippers were a little too peppery but the chutney was wonderful.

Cocoa and Vanilla Protein Flapjack.
This was definitely JJ and my favorite one.  We fought over the last piece (three in the container) and he won.

I am looking forward to receiving more snacks and discovering different types of snacks.

A little update...

Man I feel like I have been neglecting my blog but I have been traveling a lot.

Mississippi this past weekend.
Texas the weekend before.

Also since we have moved to Louisiana we have been living in an apartment but our time in this little home is done.  So with packing, purging the home, end of school, and traveling, blogging has taken a backseat.

Before this would bother me but its refreshing not having to worry about taking a step back to live my life.

Definitely not giving up on blogging.  In fact, I have three unboxing blogs I need to finish.

Until then....
